What VAANI does
VAANI works in five States of India with local organisations that provide good quality services to deaf children and their families.
Fundamental to VAANI’s vision for deaf children and their families is the principle of informed choice. We believe that deaf children need to develop fluent language skills using the means most appropriate for each one of them, so that they can understand and influence the world around them.
We work to achieve this by:
• Developing and sustaining good practice in our partnerships focusing on childhood deafness and family communication
• Developing and sustaining family groups and networks
• Developing and implementing needs based training for all our client groups
• Developing and dispersing needs based information material
• Influencing government policy and advocating for quality in all services
