Art Show in Kolkata
VAANI Deaf Children’s Foundation held its first fundraising event of the year on June 10 2010. An art show curated by Swaroop Mukherji and Avijit Dutta was held at the ITC Sonar. The collection showcased works of art from various young contemporary artists of Bengal. Some of the participating artists were Palash Halder, Pitambar Khan, Gopal Pal, Arpan Das, Radhika Mansata and Goutam Chakraborty amongst others. Works of art by Swaroop Mukherji and Avijit Dutta were on display as well.
The show ‘ Stepping Stones ‘ was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Dasho Tsering Wangda, Consul General of Bhutan and the Guest of Honour, Mrs. Bharti Deveshwar, President of the ITC Ladies Society. The event was hosted by Mr. Zubin Songadwala, General Manager, ITC Sonar, Kolkata.
The event was well attended by VAANI’s well-wishers and art enthusiasts. VAANI is proud to host such events as deaf children express themselves through visual mediums and use creativity as a method of expression, and there is a distinct synergy between the cause and the related fundraising event. Apart from raising funds, VAANI aspires to spread awareness about deafness and VAANI’s activities through shows such as this.
