Fundraiser in Kolkata
A bat autographed by Saurav Ganguly, a pair of gloves worn by Sachin during the recent series against Australia and in the on-going face-offs versus Sri Lanka, Virendra Sehwag’s t-shirt, Harbhajan’s t-shirt, Gautam Gambhir’s gloves and Leander Paes’ Babolat racquet were some of the items that went up for auction at a glittering fundraiser on 22nd December at the Taj Bengal in Kolkata in aid of VAANI, Deaf Children’s Foundation. A number of Indian and Sri Lankan players turned up, with the in-form Tillekaratne Dilshan doing his bit by parting with the T-shirt he’d been wearing, thanks to a nudge from Arun Lal.

Over 300 people thronged the beautifully decorated Crystal Room for an evening with the players, followed by dinner. The enthusiastic response to the auction has been a big booster for the VAANI team, and the support will help us to provide meaningful services to many more deaf children and their families in different parts of India.
