It is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Children With Hearing Impairment (CWHI) across India. Through our comprehensive programs in health, education, and skill-building, we provide early intervention, educational support, and life skills training to help children with hearing impairment thrive.
By working closely with families, communities, government and institutions, we aim to create an inclusive society where every deaf child is heard, valued, and allowed to reach their full potential.
VAANI, Deaf Children’s Foundation is the first national NGO in India to focus only on issues around childhood deafness.
VAANI provides holistic services that address the social, emotional, communication, language development, and educational needs of hearing- impaired children. It encourages families to learn to communicate and understand their hearing-impaired children and thus take an active part in supporting all their needs, including advocating for their rights with governments and service providers.
VAANI’s VISION is to advocate for the right of every deaf child to a full and complete life with respect and dignity.
Our MISSION is to bring language & communication into the lives of deaf children and their families and thus enabling them to have meaningful conversations between themselves and the world around them.
VAANI at present works in five states of India to provide good-quality services to deaf children and their families
Early Identification & Educational intervention
Combined approach to impart Language & Communication
Partnerships with Government & Local Organizations
Reaching remote pockets of India
Capacity building of parents & professionals
Deafness is often referred to as the ‘invisible disability,’ leaving many deaf children isolated within hearing families who may not fully understand their needs.
VAANI Deaf Children’s Foundation was founded to address this gap, inspired by a 2002 national study that revealed the lack of family involvement in the education and upbringing of deaf children in India.
The study emphasized the need for awareness, early intervention, and communication support for these children. Over the past 19 years, VAANI has worked to empower families, advocate for the rights of deaf children, and create lasting change through early identification, education, and community engagement. We have reached over 100,000 beneficiaries across India, including deaf children, their families, and professionals, working together to ensure a brighter future for the hearing-impaired community.
Help VAANI reach as many deaf children as possible. All donations made to VAANI are 50% exempt from tax under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
