Newborn Hearing Screening Program in Meghalaya

In Meghalaya, we took a significant step forward with our community awareness program by successfully training 17 dedicated Anganwadi and ASHA workers. These committed individuals received hands-on training in crucial areas such as ear health, early identification of hearing impairments, effective parent counselling, and the basics of Indian Sign Language. By equipping them with these essential skills, we’re empowering them to play a transformative role in the lives of children with hearing impairments and their families.

Our program is designed to create a ripple effect across the community, where these trained workers serve as frontline advocates for early detection and intervention. With their newfound skills, they can now identify potential hearing issues at an early stage, provide guidance to parents on available resources and support, and even facilitate communication through Indian Sign Language. This holistic approach not only aids in the early identification of hearing challenges but also fosters a more inclusive environment where families feel supported and informed.

We are immensely proud of these Anganwadi and ASHA workers who have embraced this mission with dedication. They are now vital pillars in building a more inclusive ecosystem, making a lasting impact on the lives of children with hearing impairments and their families.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our philanthropic partner #Intel whose support has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Their contribution allows us to extend the reach of this program and ensure that children in Meghalaya have a better chance at early intervention and support, setting them on a path towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
