We have compiled a set of Six Training Modules focussing on Problems of Deafness and Educational Techniques useful for teaching Children With Hearing Impairment (CWHI).

The Educational Material of this kind is vital for empowering Parents, Teachers of Regular Schools, Special Educators, and Community Workers who deal with the identification and education of hearing-impaired children.

Sensory Perception plays a vital role in gaining knowledge about the world around us. Impairment of any senses creates learning barriers for a child. Children with Hearing Impairment mostly miss the vital phase of Language Acquirement (0-2yrs), as Deafness is not an easily recognisable loss. Bereft of Communication and Linguistic skills, ‘Learning’ becomes an uphill task.

Through these training, the Anganwadi and Asha workers are sensitised on the issue of childhood deafness and learn how to identify deaf children in the community, techniques on counselling parents and if they find any Hearing impaired child where to refer and guide them for intervention.
